About Us

Can I join a cell?

If you attend our church regularly and would like to join a cell, please speak to one of the cell leaders or the pastor and we will help you get involved.

I attend another church; can I join one of your cells?

Since we discuss Sunday Sermons in the group, it would difficult to get actively involved if you did not hear the sermon each week.

Why call them cells?

The 'cell system' we use is common to many churches across the world. Each church uses its own name: Connect Groups, Life Groups, Small Groups, Little Church, Kinship...etc. We use the name Connect Group to refer to our cell groups. Cell is the system of small groups that we employ, Connect is the brand name we have chosen for them.

How are cells (connect groups) different to house groups?

Depends on your understanding of the term, 'House Group'. Some churches call their Cells, House Groups and in those cases, there is no difference. The difference when there is one is usually in one or all of the following:

  1. Cells grow and multiply. When they reach a certain size, they become two cells. Small group dynamics are important enough to maintain.
  2. Cell is about applying teaching to everyday life, rather than just following a weekly study.
  3. In a cell, the whole cell gets involved in running the meeting, including leading the 'study'. The leader co-ordinates and steers the meeting but is not expected to lead a weekly bible study.

Many house groups will apply one or more of the above but these are the points that usually distinguish a cell from a house group.

Are you part of Fusion?

No. We respect the ministry of Fusion and its leaders but are not actively involved with them. If students attend our church, we encourage them to attend their local UCCF CU. If a student wants to attend one of our cells, they are very welcome to do so. We currently do not have any student only cells, if more students start attending our services then we may choose to provide one.

Isn't cell just another meeting?

We believe that church (ie. Church meeting together) is two meetings. After cell and Sunday church there are, other meetings and ministries people are free to join. No-one is forced to attend a cell and many members choose not to. We try to ensure these members feel part of the church and its life. Cell is not just another meeting; it is the meeting along with the Sunday Service.
