The Christian Centre has now launched an awesome branch of its work for 16+ age young adults. This church department is called "CONNECTED" We recognise that young people mature and change after leaving school and their relationship with God often changes too. We want to help our young people through this important step in their lives by providing relevant focus and support to them.
We have begun to grow a dynamic department within The Christian Centre where this group can meet with God, have fun and reach out to friends with the amazing news that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The 16+ Co-ordinator is Neil Harris. He been working with young people for over 15 years and has experience of youth ministry in both the UK and overseas. Neil is also a senior youth worker with Tees Valley Youth for Christ.
Although, Neil oversees the work, we have a shared vision and therefore the group is peer led. We believe that to grow, young people need to take responsibility for themselves and others so each member of the group will take responsibility for different aspects of our work.
Our launch in October 2008 saw a program being set which includes:
The Lounge is chilled out Church, it is a place of refreshment, a place to seek God's heart and a place for friendships to be built.
It is also a forum for socialising and bringing along friends who might be turned off by their idea of Church, but want to find truth and meaning to their lives. Sundays 6-8pm each Sunday.
Thursdays at Neils. Chill, chat and consider God as we learn and grow together in our new midweek small group. We have launched this age specific cell group to allow young adults to get peer support and to grow in faith so they can adequately go out and reach their world for Christ.
As well as a program of extra events including socials and involvement with the multi church youth event "House", In 2009, we will be going away on a residential weekend. Watch out for more details.
