Thorntree: Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you move from Thorntree?

We didn't! Despite moving Sunday services, it continues to be our HQ and outreach centre. Most church activity still takes place in Thorntree and we plan to increase this activity and our presence on the estate.

The decision to move Sunday services to the Town Centre was based on long consideration of our vision. Facilities in the church building, whilst excellent for community-work were not big enough for planned growth.

Our vision is to reach the whole of Middlesbrough and beyond (including Thorntree). The central location allows us to expand the reach of the church across the Tees-Valley.

Will you be selling the church building?

We require the building for our future outreach plans. The plan is to continue our Middlesbrough meetings in rented accommodation for many years; this allows us to move from venue to venue as the church grows.

What are your long-term plans for Thorntree?

To build on current community work, especially with Children and Youth. We hope that as the Middlesbrough church grows it will provide us with more resources to fund work in Thorntree.

Will you be re-starting church meetings in Thorntree?

It's impossible to say. We have no short-term plans for this, but it may become the next obvious step as the children's and youth work grow. We will be holding an occasional meeting in Thorntree, especially around Christmas.
