What to expect?

The Stewards outside the building can give assistance and guide you to the meeting area. We start at 10:30 and the service lasts between 1¼-1½ hours.

Pre-meeting is a good time to meet people; tea & Coffee is served from 10:00-10:30am. During this time, the Welcome Team will offer you refreshments and answer any questions.

We start with worship, which is led by a band, including drums, guitars and keyboards. The music is generally contemporary in style, although we also sing an occasional hymn.

The church is a Pentecostal church so sometimes a prophecy is given. Prophecy is always authorized by a leader first.

We usually serve communion midway through the service, except on very rare and occasions. Communion normally takes 5-10 minutes. Anyone who is a Christian can participate and it is available to visitors as well as members.

We aim for sermons to be between 30-40 minutes long with most being around 35 minutes. Teaching usually falls into the category, 'Life Teaching' - ie. Christian teaching for everyday living. Sometimes PowerPoint is used to aid communication and notes are normally made available at the end. Sermons are recorded and available via podcast or the sermon page.

Where can I get lunch?

We meet in the main entertainment area of Middlesbrough and are close to a number of Restaurants, Bars and Fast Food Outlets.

What else do we do?

The Christian Centre runs a number of outreach programmes and events. The life of the church extends beyond Sundays. Key programmes that would generally interest a visitor are listed below:

Children's Church:

We run a separate programme for children aged 5-11 during the service. Children generally leave the adult meeting after the worship. We believe church is for kids too and have a dedicated team that try to make church accessible to little people.

We have strong child protection policy and all our staff are Police checked.

Youth Work:

We have a small team of workers, the youth leader is employed part time by the church. All leaders are Police checked and follow our child protection policy.

The youth run their own programme throughout the week, including bible teaching and social activities. We occasionally run joint youth meetings with Middlesbrough Community Church.

Cells:

We believe that church should meet in both, large and small groups. Connect groups are the name we give to our small groups. There are normally 8-14 people in a group that meets during the week in the home of a member.

Teaching is based on the Sunday sermon and aimed at applying it to everyday life. Group members will get more time to share and use their own gifts in the cell.
